CoreWeave, the AI Hyperscaler™, has revealed that its first two data centers, located in Crawley and London Docklands, are now fully operational. These state-of-the-art facilities mark a significant milestone in CoreWeave’s commitment to advancing high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities in the UK and Europe.
A Major Leap for AI in the UK
These two data centers, part of CoreWeave’s initial £1 billion investment into the UK, will host some of Europe’s largest NVIDIA AI platform deployments. Powered by NVIDIA H200 GPUs and scaled with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking, these facilities aim to propel the UK’s AI and HPC landscape to new heights.
The Crawley data center, launched in partnership with Digital Realty, became operational in October 2024. Meanwhile, the London Docklands facility, developed with Global Switch, followed suit in December 2024. Both campuses exemplify CoreWeave’s sustainability ethos by operating entirely on renewable energy.
Building on Momentum
CoreWeave’s commitment to the UK was solidified in 2024 when the company established London as its European headquarters and announced an additional £750 million investment during the International Investment Summit in October. This expansion aligns with CoreWeave’s vision to lead in AI infrastructure by delivering cutting-edge solutions designed for AI workloads.
A Pioneer in AI Cloud Technology
CoreWeave has consistently led the market with innovations in AI infrastructure. In August 2024, it became the first cloud provider to offer NVIDIA H200 GPUs to its customers. Unlike traditional cloud providers encumbered by legacy architectures, CoreWeave’s infrastructure is purpose-built for AI and HPC, enabling unparalleled performance and efficiency.
By the end of 2024, CoreWeave had opened 28 data centers globally, with plans to launch 10 additional sites in 2025. These facilities serve as a robust foundation for its specialized AI cloud platform, empowering businesses to pioneer the next generation of AI technology.
Looking Ahead
CoreWeave’s expansion in the UK underscores its commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in AI infrastructure. By combining cutting-edge technology, strategic partnerships, and a focus on renewable energy, CoreWeave is well-positioned to shape the future of AI and HPC in Europe and beyond.
